Code of Conduct Services
CR Global has an extensive offering of code of conduct related services to ensure that your code meets current best practice, applicable regulatory and stock exchange listing requirements, stakeholder expectations, and, most importantly, your organization's needs. The strength of our team is its combined legal and corporate responsibility expertise, which leaves us well positioned to advise on the diverse range of issues that might be addressed in a code of conduct, such as: business integrity/ethics; corporate governance; compliance; labour standards; environment; health and safety; anti-corruption; and human rights.
We follow a well-tested process to ensure that your company has in place a code that defines clearly articulated standards of conduct and is accompanied by implementation processes that will enable it to become fully integrated into your corporate culture:
Benchmarking
• We will examine the content and associated implementation processes of your existing code and compare it to the codes of other corporate leaders within and outside your sector.
• The benchmarking enables us to determine the strengths and weakness of your code's content and implementation procedures as compared to best practice.
Regulatory/Voluntary Commitments Gap Analysis
• We will examine the content, and associated implementation processes, of your existing code and undertake a gap analysis against applicable code-related regulatory requirements.
• Depending on the jurisdictions your company operates in, this might include stock exchange listing rules, organizational sentencing guidelines, and regulations relating to whistleblower/hotline processes.
• Given that current best practice is now moving toward integrating CR commitments into company codes of conduct, our gap analysis extends to key CR voluntary commitments you are signatory to.
Internal company policies
• We will review your internal policies and mission statements to ensure that they are consistent with, and properly integrated into, your code of conduct.
Drafting team
• We will establish a drafting team made up of our own professionals and selected representatives of your company to undertake the drafting process.
• Our experience has shown us that a team work approach to the drafting exercise ensures that your organizational "tone of voice" and "culture" is adequately reflected in the code.
Internal consultation
• We will coordinate an internal consultation process so that selected internal stakeholders are able to review and make editorial suggestions to a preliminary draft.
External consultation
• Following the internal consultation, we will help you identify key external stakeholders so that their views (in confidence) might be sought on the adequacy of the draft code.
Approval
• We will assist in obtaining the requisite approval and support for the code (e.g. from senior management and the board of directors).
Roll-out/Training
• We will design a roll-out program to ensure that the code is accessible and communicated to your employees and key external stakeholders.
• The roll-out plan includes provision for ongoing training of employees and full-time contractors.
